Founded in 1952, Wuhan Zhonglian Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd (its predecessor is Wuhan Zhonglian pharmaceutical factory) was composed of 199 well-known traditional pharmacies, such as Jin Tongren, Chen Taiyi, Chu Kaitang, Jiu Qiannian, Liu youyu. In 1997, the company changed its system into a stock company, while in 2002, Zhonglian became the controlling shareholder of Wuhan Siyao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Wuhan New and Unique Medicine Development Co., Ltd, Wuhan Zhonglian Pharmacy Medicine Co., Ltd, Wuhan Jun'an Economy and Trade Co., Ltd, Wuhan Zhonglian Management Consulting Co.,Ltd, and participated in share-holding of Wuhan Minsheng Medicine Co., Ltd by way of capital operation. On Nov. 28, 2002, Wuhan Zhonglian Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd was officially founded.
        Over 50 years' development, Zhonglian Group has gradually formed an industry pattern which contains production and sales of prepared Chinese medicine, chemical pharmaceutics and medical apparatus and instruments as well as business operation of medicine and integrated scientific research, teaching, manufacturing, circulation, foreign into a large—scale medical group. it was granted as the “High-New Technology Enterprise” and “Star Enterprise in Wuhan” by Hubei Provincial Government in 1999.

The products of Zhonglian Group cover both Chinese medicine and Western medicine. The Chinese medicine includes 168 kinds of registered products, 96 of which have been listed into the National basic Medicine Category , more than 60 of which have been listed into the National Non-prescription Medicine Category.

Seven kinds of products such as “Zhonglian Rhinitis Tablets”, “Zhonglian Rheum Tablets”, “Zhonglian Blood-Pressure Pacificator” have been listed into the National Protective Chinese Traditional Medicine Category and 16 kinds of products have been sold so far as to Japan, Europe and America, Southeastern Asia and other countries and regions.

The products of western medicine include the series for gynaecology such as Yibantian compound nysfungin suppository, and the series for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease such as ethyl polyenoic acid soft capsule, Xinnaokang soft capsule as well as the state-level new medicine Azi thromycin dispersible tablets, Guiqi oral liquid, etc.
